The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) condemns the hasty and baseless accusations made by the U.S. Special Envoy for Sudan, Mr. Tom Perriello, via his official X account. In a blatant contradiction of his primary role as a peace mediator, he has claimed that the RSF committed the vast majority of sexual violence crimes.
To clarify the facts, the RSF rejects these accusations by the U.S. envoy for Sudan and affirm that allegations of violations in Sudan await transparent investigations to be conducted by neutral and credible international bodies. This is precisely what our forces have consistently called for. It is neither wise nor just to rely on information gathered unilaterally from the instruments of the coup regime in Port Sudan.
We have, with deep regret, observed the repeated contradictory and confused statements of the U.S. envoy, as well as his disregard for the crimes of the Islamic terrorist movement, which include the daily air raids killing hundreds of innocent civilians, alongside arbitrary arrests and trials based on identity and geography. These actions form part of a continuing scenario of genocide targeting integral components of Sudanese society.
It is not surprising that Perriello, who failed to condemn the Armed Forces when they refused to attend the negotiations he personally oversaw in Geneva, aligns himself with the agenda of a regime built on deception and lies.
Mr. Perriello has squandered the opportunity for the United States to play a pivotal role in ending the war and supporting a political process leading to civilian democratic governance. His experience with the Sudanese file has revealed a lack of understanding of the roots of Sudan’s crisis and of those responsible for igniting the war he has failed to extinguish.
Let it be known to Mr. Perriello that our forces are guided by steadfast principles that do not deviate from the goal of restoring legitimacy, ending the control of the old state and the authoritarian coup regime, and laying the foundation for civilian democratic governance. We aim to rebuild and establish the Sudanese state on new and just foundations.
